Almost 10 years ago the state of California passed Proposition 65. Although national safety levels for heavy metals already existed, Prop 65 established California-only allowable levels for daily ingestion of four heavy metals, arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury. These standards were significantly different than standards in all other states. In fact, Prop 65 standards are so stringent as to actually declare yams, turnips, artichokes, apples, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber and many more fruits and vegetables to be in violation. Even California’s culinary water supply violates Prop 65!
Because Prop 65 standards aren’t met in nature, the drinking water and fruits and vegetables grown in California were exempted. The requirements for herbal products, however, remained unchanged. This gave Nature’s Sunshine three options. The first would have been to put warning labels on herbal products. The second would have been to stop selling any herbal products that did not comply with this rule. They chose the third option which was to make any non-compliant product comply. So no matter what state you live in, you will benefit from NSP’s choice.
Obviously this is the hardest way to go, but NSP already has the highest standards in the industry and has shown that they are willing to go the extra mile to make the very best products in the world, period!
Herbs, just like those carrots and cucumbers, contain varying amounts of many substances, depending on the terrain in which they are grown. These amounts can even vary from season to season since they are all naturally occurring and something as simple as rain can wash higher amounts of a mineral into different growing areas. How do you control Mother Nature?
NSP often rejects raw herbs that do not meet their standards anyway. Some herbs have often had to be rejected for just this reason so by making concentrated powdered extracts of the most troublesome herbs, the result will be more powerful products for the same price. ALJ, Fat Grabbers, Joint Support, are just a few of the popular products that will be getting new stock numbers when these concentrated herbs are added to their formulas.
One particularly sensitive group of plants are those used in the Chinese Combinations. Their growing areas are limited so we do not have as much choice regarding soil conditions, etc. For this reason, NSP chose to make TCM (Traditional Chinese Method) concentrates. By concentrating the formulas as a whole, they are able to drop out only the heavy metals, leaving a more potent formula behind.
This creates additional benefits to you. Obviously, the heavy metal levels will now be lower than those found naturally in your fruits and vegetables, but since these formulas will be more potent, you will use less to get the same benefit! Fewer capsules to swallow makes everyone happy!
For example, the label suggests 3 caps, 3 times daily for Nervous Fatigue, KB-C, Trigger Immune, Anti-Gas, Spleen Activator or Lung Support. In the TCM form, you will only need 1-2 caps daily. Not only does that mean fewer capsules to swallow, you’ll save money too! Now that really isn’t too hard to swallow, is it? The Chinese formulas are easy to use too, since often their purpose is clear right in their name.Start looking for these TCM formulas to be available in mid-August.
