Consider the reclusive computer geek/gamer, practically chained to their screens who resist going out into the world where people talk, instead of instant message, as their primary means of communications.
In work places cubicles only reinforce the tendency, but the real cause is not in the furniture, but in the vending machines and snack bags. Any vending machine owner will tell you that computer centers demand machines filled with crunchy snacks. Crackers, popcorn, chips, etc. are the mainstay of the computer geek's diet. That diet, combined with over exposure to computer screens leads to anxiety and the fear of venturing into the outside, social world.
Why? Because computer work, or play, relies heavily on the eyes, brain, nervous system. Popular computer snacks are mostly simple carbohydrates or outright sugar, which convert too quickly into glucose, the cash of the body. Reliance on these quasi foods results in low blood sugar and eventually diabetes. But, they do not produce good feelings, confidence, social ability, affection and a sense of well being. Lean protein, which the body breaks down into amino acids, and then constructs into neurotransmitters, is what makes people feel good steadily and consistently. The amino acid that is often consumed most quickly by vision is l-Taurine, a powerful anti-anxiety nutrient.
The secret is to eat the lean protein by itself, not wrapped in a carbohydrate, aka a burger but not the bun. I'm not mentioning hot dog buns because the wieners are only 15% protein and 85% fat. When the protein reaches the stomach the hydrochloric acid pulls it apart, destroying the overall programming. You don't want a turkey programmed protein running around loose inside your body. If the protein has to share the hydrochloric acid and enzymes with a sticky, icky carbohydrate some of those proteins will evade complete destruction of their overriding program. Undigested protein circulating, or lodged in the body is one of the major causes of many diseases.
If instead of always crunching on crackers computer workers will snack on slices of turkey (90% protein), or even a hardboiled egg (30 to 40% protein) every other time, they will feel emotionally confident, more social and creative. Of course, they may not find lean protein in their vending machine, so pack a cooler.
