People have a unique, favorite direction they like to face when they work. This is similar to that favorite easy chair or table at a restaurant. Answer a) explains how that works and why it is important!
a) I don’t know!
First determine which direction you face. The second easiest method is by compass. The easiest is Google Maps. Compasses require understanding magnetic variation, but on Google maps the top is North, bottom is South, right is East and left is West. Locate the surrounding streets and determine which one aligns with your desk. How did Columbus find America without a GPS? If you don’t know which way you’re facing you haven’t been paying attention.
Work on That, Okay?
The cardinal directions determine which locations receive more sunlight. Northern facing offices enjoy less sunlight, and people working there make fewer vitamins which affects immunity and performance. Western facing offices often suffer from late afternoon productivity drops when de-ionized sunlight sears the nervous system. The body is affected by electromagnetic fields flowing over the earth like rivers from the North to the South Pole because iron rich blood concentrating in organs gives the body a magnetic polarity. Correctly aligning the body with the magnetic directions improves endurance by up to twenty percent.
Here is an example of magnetic influence from kinesiology. Without you being aware of it, your standing body leans against the movement of the southern flowing electromagnetic current, just like you lean against a strong wind, but unlike the wind electromagnetic fields pass through buildings.
The most restful sleep comes when the head of the bed points North because the Earth’s field pushes the body’s field from the head to the feet, the best direction. When you are sitting or standing, facing South means that the Earth’s field pushes from your back to the frontal part of the brain speeding up the thought process. Facing East the field pushes from left to right increasing energy and initiative. When you face West the field slows you down encouraging patience.
When you face North you feel like you are walking up hill, which is sometimes a good thing because struggle produces quality growth. You may have to read this section four or five times and then try it out for yourself before you get it. Don’t worry, that’s normal! Excerpted from the Book, The Dream Desk Questionnaire
